About Me

I'm Nikki, and welcome to my website.

I am a Person-Centred Counsellor working and living in Southbourne, Dorset. Originally from London, I lived and worked abroad for ten years, before returning to the UK and settling in Dorset, some twenty years ago.

Since then, I have been supporting people in my community to manage their addictions, their mental health, and their wellbeing.

I have personally found counselling useful in my own life, and in 2019, I made the decision to train as a counsellor. I have studied for four years but continue to constantly develop my professional skills so that I can continue to give my very best. I enjoy connecting with people, even when they feel they do not have anything to offer.

Finding a counsellor, you connect with is important, therefore I offer a FREE 15-minute telephone conversation to discuss your needs before any commitment. You can decide if I am the right person for you to work with.

Training qualification and experience

• CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
• CPCAB Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies
• CPCAB Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills
• HumanKind Agency for Addiction
• Pegasus Men’s Wellbeing Centre
• Cruse Bereavement Support

Counselling with Nikki

The Person-Centred approach to counselling means exactly what it says – that you, the person, will be at the centre of our counselling. It means that you are the most important person in our work together.

Counselling
‘If I can provide a certain type of relationship, the other person will discover within himself, the capacity to use our relationship for growth and personal development will occur’- Carl Rogers

Person-Centred therapy was developed by Carl Rogers, who discovered that when he truly listened to people, and he did not try to ‘fix them’ he noticed the person had the answers themselves. I am not there to tell you what to do, give you my opinions or advise on your life, but I am there to help you discover the answers within yourself, enabling you to move forward and facilitate positive change.

In our sessions you choose the pace; I will listen carefully to you and your situation. I will be empathic, understanding and accepting, of you and I will be fully committed in working with you to develop a therapeutic relationship where you feel understood, heard and seen.

I believe that if you experience this way of being listened to:
- You will find a way through your problems
- You will become clearer about who you are and what you need
- You will be more confident

There is nothing more satisfying than witnessing people take control of their life again and develop into the person they truly are.
